All our Workshops will be hosted by Di Gilpin with Sheila Greenwell and will be worked around a specific project. The workshops aim to be fun, friendly and creative in our studio at Comielaw Farm with visits to Kellie Castle a short walk away.

Workshop : How to make your patterns work for you with fit and colour

Join us for a special class, exploring how to check your tension, how to use tension to change the design of a pattern to suit yourself, how to modify shaping and how to choose colours that best suit yourself.

Specifically, the class will include:

  • How to measure your knitting to check tension.
  • How to use tension to design or change your pattern to fit yourself.
  • How to modify shaping, neck etc.
  • How to choose your own colours to suit yourself when knitting in colour.

The workshop will be from 10.00am to 1.30pm. Coffee and Cake will be served!

An In-depth Exploration of Knitting and Finishing Techniques - Part One

In this 3 hour class we will explore all the Knitting Studio’s special techniques for knitting and final finishing to achieve a perfect result. This will include:

  • Cast on and Cast off.
  • Tension
  • Shaping and Picking-Up. Making a Gusset. 
  • Reading your knitting!
  • Mattress stitch for sewing up.
  • Edges.

An In-depth Exploration of Knitting and Finishing Techniques - Part Two

In this 3 hour class we will explore all the Knitting Studio’s special techniques for colour knitting and final finishing to achieve a perfect result. This will include:

  • Stranded Colourwork
  • Tension
  • Working Fair Isle purlwise
  • Intarsia
  • Working Fair Isle and Intarsia together
  • Sowing in Ends.

Make your own Super-Cool Gansey scarf design

Join us for a special class, exploring knitting  in the gansey style. Special Gansey motifs such as cables, zigzags, fishing nets, and harbour steps will be introduced and explained. 
The workshop will be from 10.00am to 1.30pm. Arrive for 10.00am to listen to an introduction about the writing of the Gansey Knitting Sourcebook and the story of the Gansey.
Each person will receive a beautiful Di Gilpin Project bag and wool to complete a super cool gansey scarf.
