Workshop : Design your own contemporary Gansey!
Friday October 7th 2020 - 10.30 am to 4pm.
The workshop will explore how to use the Gansey Knitting Sourcebook by Di and Sheila to create your own design for either a contemporary Gansey for yourself or for a child in our Lalland Lambswool. Working with graph paper and all the incredible motifs and seeding stitches from the book we will help develop individual designs for each person, using sampling and working on sizing so that a pattern can be made. The class will explore knitting in the round on traditional sets of 4/5 dpns, how to make gussets, seam stitches, the reading of charts both in the round and flat, shoulder seams, picking up stitches for the armhole and how to adjust a pattern to achieve the correct size. Each person will be given a Polar Gansey pattern as a starting point and we will have signed copies of our book for sale.
The workshop will be from 10.30am to 4.00pm. Arrive for 10.30am for a coffee and cake and to listen to an introduction about the writing of the book and the story of the Gansey. We will have lunch made from local seasonal organic produce. Do please let us know of any food allergies before hand.
Each person will receive a beautiful Di Gilpin Project bag, Di Gilpin handmade label, wool for sampling and a 20% discount on any yarn bought on the day .
